Luke Barnett is an award winning documentary cameraman who specialises in wildlife and adventure filming. He has worked on numerous films in remote locations and travelled to over 50 countries.
Luke is often sought to film using specialist cameras and is comfortable filming both in the day and at night. He is confident with all the current cameras and formats accepted by all the major broadcasters and often introduces new filming techniques and equipment to capture behavior.
Luke has worked as a cinematographer on numerous films over the past 20 years. His filming ranges from long lens sequences to macro, night, gimbal, time-lapse, sync, virtual reality and live broadcast.
Here are a few of the more recent projects some of which are under N.D.A until broadcast.
Filming in some of the world’s harshest environments has its own challenges but also being asked to film at night adds a little extra spice to the adventure. Like trying to film vampire bats with a very persistent rat running up your trousers, or that time a jaguar tried to pop her head into the hide.
Having helped develop, test and build rigs from Infra RED, UHD low light cameras and Thermal imaging, Luke has pioneered in capturing new behavior in the dark and under the moonlit skies.
Luke has some specialst camera kit that usually comes with him on his filming expeditions. It will be added here shortly. Contact him for more info.
In the filming world of NDA its hard to be able to put up clips and reels. Here are a few links to some older reels mostly some fun behind the scenes and making of shows. I am happy to present more sequences on a one to one basis where contractual obligations allow.
Seems there is no beaten path to becoming a wildlife cameraman. There are many routes in these days and even tailor made University courses. Here is Luke's origin story.
